7Avoiding Cold or Heat
Many people with multiple sclerosis have sensitivity to heat. Symptoms tend to become worse when the body temperature increases. It is quite obvious that extreme heat would worsen clinical symptoms as higher temperatures would impair the ability of nerves to transmit electrical impulses. To reduce the risk, try to stay out of direct sunlight, wearing a neck wrap or cooling vest, using air conditioners or fans, drinking a lot of liquids, and avoiding hot baths or showers. You should also need to be careful with cold temperatures. Some people with multiple sclerosis may have fatigue or increased spasticity during the winter. [6]
