7New Proposal for Medicare for First Responders

On 26 September 2019, Senator Sherrod Brown introduced a bill called the Expanding Health Care Options for Early Retirees Act. Under this bill, Medicare benefits may apply to those people who:

– were first responders separated from their employment because of disability or retirement

– are disabled, retired, or qualified first responders from 50 to 65 years old

– are nationals or citizens of the United States

After the introduction, the billed was referred to the Senate Finance Committee. The first hearings were organized on 10 December 2019. Many organizations have showed their support for this new proposal. [9]
