If the legislative proposal was passed, it is necessary to measure the potential costs and coverage. For instance, when an employee goes for original Medicare rather than Medicare Advantage, they have to pay a monthly premium for Part B. If they paid at least 40 quarters of Medicare taxes, there is no need to pay Part A premiums. The new proposal states that premiums for first responders should be established by the Department of Health and Human Services. It means the premiums would be higher or the same. When first responders turn 65, they might transition to similar premiums like other people who benefit from Medicare. [10]
