7Leg Straightening Exercises
An important part that determines the success of recovery after ACL tear surgery is the ability to straighten your knee fully. Some leg straightening exercises can help you relieve swelling and speed up recovery duration. Below are three simple exercises to try at home:
– Lie down. Keep the affected leg straight and the other bent. Lift your injured leg vertically so that it reaches the same height of the opposite knee cap. Do 10 reps and 3 sets. Take a 60-second rest before repeating.
– Sit down with extended legs in front of you. Keep your affected leg straight by putting a towel under the ankle. Lock and hold the knee for 6 seconds before relaxing. Do 10 reps and 3 sets.
– Sit on a chair. Hook the foot of the healthy leg underneath the ankle of the injured leg. After that, lift the injured leg by using the healthy leg. Try to make it as straight as possible. Make sure you feel no pain or discomfort. [7]
