7Alcoholic Drinks
Heavy drinkers often have higher amounts of cholesterol in their blood. Most alcoholic beverages are high in triglycerides, sugar, and calories. Beer does not contain cholesterol itself, but alcohol and carbs in these drinks would increase the levels of triglyceride. Plant sterols in beer are also able to bind to cholesterol. Some hard liquors, such as gin, vodka, and whiskey might be loaded with extra sugars, which would affect the overall cholesterol levels. The same can be true for other mixed drinks and cocktails.
