A typical symptom of pseudogout is swelling or fluid buildup in the affected joints. If left untreated, it would increase pressure and worsen pain or discomfort. An effective treatment option is a joint drainage. During this procedure, the doctor will insert a needle into the affected area to remove some of the synovial fluid. This can help remove crystals and alleviate pressure. After that, a corticosteroid or numbing medication can be injected to reduce inflammation and speed up healing. In more serious cases when the joints wear out, a surgical procedure might be needed to replace or repair damaged parts.[9]
