6Medications
Certain OTC pain medications and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen, naproxen, or acetaminophen can help with pain and swelling caused by Achilles tendinitis. Always follow the instructions and take the right dosages. You should only take them for a short term, normally from 7 to 10 days. If the symptoms do not improve, it is better to ask your doctor for stronger medications. Keep in mind that some side effects would occur, such as nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, or drowsiness. Make sure to consult your doctor to choose the right option. In serious cases, cortisone injections can be suggested. It is an effective anti-inflammatory drug that would reduce swelling and pain.[6]
