9Pain and Discomfort During Rest
When a person has acid reflux, it is also characterized by an uncomfortable feeling, especially during rest. When you are constantly in motion or not resting, gravity may prevent stomach acid from moving up to the esophagus through the lower esophageal sphincter. However, when you are resting, it becomes easier for stomach acid to move up to the throat. This is the same reason why you shouldn’t eat immediately before bed. However, you can never be in a standing or moving position perpetually, so, when you notice that you feel pain in your throat or general discomfort in your stomach area whenever you are resting, you should complain to your doctor.[6]
