8Inheritance of Blood Types
Certain genetic factors determine your type of blood. It means that you will inherit a gene from your father and mother to form a pair of genes. For instance, you would get both A antigens from your parents, leading to the AA blood type. Another case is to inherit one A gene from the mother and one B gene from the father, leading to the AB blood. In contrast, if you get one A or B antigen from one parent and an O antigen from the other, you still have the A or B blood type. In certain cases, it is possible for parents with type A or B blood to have a child with type O if they have the recessive O gene. [8]
