7Rhnull: Golden Blood
Rhnull is one of the rarest blood types in the world. It can only be found in 1 out of every 6 million people. That’s why people typically call it the “golden blood”. Unlike other common types, Rhnull does not consist of any Rh-angigens on the surface of red blood cells. If you have this blood type, it is important to inform your healthcare provider, particularly when you need a transfusion or go through surgery. Since Rhnull blood is extremely rare, the number of regular donors around the world is also very small. Those with this blood type may also be at a higher risk of chronic hemolytic anemia, which would lead to damage to immature red blood cells. [7]
