4Bone Contusion
The symptoms of a bone contusion are quite similar to those caused by a fracture or a break. You may find it hard to move the injured area. For instance, a contusion in the rib would make breathing painful and difficult. Bones have complicated structures, with soft bone marrow inside and hard tissue outside. Any part of your bones may be affected by contusions. Damage to the calcium-rich, hard bone structure would lead to tiny breaks in your bones. [6]
Internal Contusion
After a strong fall or blow, contusions may occur in internal organs, such as the heart, lungs, and kidneys. This type would cause damage to the blood vessels and soft tissue in your organs. In most cases, they can be dangerous or even life-threatening mainly because the core functions of these parts can be affected. Individuals with organ contusions would need hospitalization. For instance, a contusion on the lungs, also known as a pulmonary contusion, would require the use of an artificial ventilator to help with breathing. [7]
