5Anti-Nausea Medication
As the name implies, anti-nausea medications can help prevent nausea or vomiting. There are different forms, which can deal with various causes. In general, they work by targeting the neurotransmitter receptors in the brain that triggers the nauseated sensations. In addition to prevent nausea, these medications would also be prescribed for relieving vertigo and motion sickness. The problem is that they do not only interfere with nausea-related neurotransmitters, but also inhibit dopamine receptors. As a result, some types of anti-nausea medications would also increase the risk of drug-induced Parkinsonism. This is especially the case with antihistamines, such as promethazine or hydroxyzine.
