If you are eligible for the QMB program, then you can also benefit from Extra Help. In general, it is a program designed to cover the expenses linked to Medicare Part D, also known as Medicare prescription drug plan, including monthly premiums, prescription copays, and deductibles. Several pharmacies would still ask for small copays, which are fewer than $9.2 for brand-name medications and $3.7 for generic medications. Keep in mind that Extra Help only helps with Medicare Part D. It does not apply to expenses and premiums for Medigap or Medicare Part C plans. [8]
