9Keeping the Brain Engaged
Physical exercise is important to manage symptoms of multiple sclerosis, but it is also important to keep the brain engaged. In most cases, individuals with this disease need to use more of the brain to perform a particular task than normal people. Use it or lose it. This old adage is absolutely true for cognitive function in multiple sclerosis. Try some mentally challenging games or activities, such as reading, memory games, word games, or crossword puzzles to keep the brain always sharp. Also, join social activities to avoid loneliness and boost brain function. [8]
