2What Does Medicare Cover?
Medicare offers 4 parts, which cover different healthcare services. These include:
– Part A covers hospitalization expenses, such as inpatient services, hospice care, wheelchairs, walkers, blood transfusions, and more.
– Part B covers the costs for preventive healthcare, such as regular tests or doctor visits, and doctor’s services. Common tests and services covered by Part B include diabetes supplies, medical equipment, hepatitis and flu vaccinations, emergency department and ambulance services, as well as screening for diabetes, depression, and cancer.
– Part C, also known as Medicare Advantage, covers all expenses in parts A and B, along with additional benefits, such as vision, hearing, dental, prescription medications, and others.
– Part D covers prescription medications
Medicare does not provide coverage for long-term care, eye exams, dental care, acupuncture, hearing aids, and cosmetic surgery. [2]
