3How to Enroll in Medicare

If you are eligible for Medicare, you can enroll during the following periods:

– Initial enrolment: 7 months in total, including 3 months before your 65th birthday, the birth month, and 3 month after your 65th birthday

– General enrolment: between 1 January and 31 March each year. There may be fees for late enrolment

– Medigap enrolment: 6 months after your 65th birthday

– Special enrolment: depending on the qualifying reason, there are some number of months for enrolment

– Open enrolment: between 15 October and 7 December, you may change, drop, or enroll in a Medicare plan [4]
