8Blood Type and Bacteria in Digestive Tract
In addition to be present on the outside of red blood cells, antigens can be found in the lining of the digestive tract as well. They may work as a food source for certain bacteria in the gut. Therefore, the number of antigens may determine the growth or disappearance of these microorganisms. Scientists have found that people with B blood type contains much more gut-friendly bacteria than those with A or O blood type. It is important to know that changes in the digestive tract’s environment may be linked to some metabolic disorders, such as diabetes or obesity. [8]
