7How to Interpret Audiogram Results
Based on the results of an audiogram, you may determine whether you have one of the following levels of hearing loss:
– Mild hearing loss ranges from 26 dB to 40 dB. You can still talk and understand people face to face. However, it may be hard to hear sounds from a distance, conversations in loud areas, or quiet talking.
– Moderate hearing loss ranges from 45 dB to 65 dB. You may have difficulty hearing conversations in most cases and find it very hard to hear conversations in noisy areas.
– Severe hearing loss ranges from 66 dB to 85 dB. You would only hear a person when they are very close and talk loudly. It is almost impossible to hear sounds around you.
– Profound hearing loss with thresholds over 85 dB. You may not hear someone who is standing opposite and shouting at you or a TV that is turned up high volumes. [8]
