6Benzodiazepines
Benzodiazepines are a form of sedative medication. Doctors often prescribe them for treating the severe period of generalized anxiety disorder in the short term. These drugs work by affecting certain neurotransmitters in the brain. The symptoms tend to improve within 30 to 90 minutes after taking the pills. After this period, the effects start to subside. Common side effects of benzodiazepines include reduced sex drive, tremble or shake, vertigo, headaches, trouble focusing, or drowsiness. Avoid taking these medications for longer than 4 weeks as it would lead to dependence or addiction. Also, do not take opiate drugs or consume alcohol during benzodiazepine treatment to prevent dangerous interactions. [9]
