5Tricyclic Antidepressants

Tricyclic antidepressants, such as clomipramine, desipramine, nortriptyline, or imipramine, can be effective in treating generalized anxiety disorder. You only need a single dose per day during the treatment. Your doctors may suggest a low dose at first and then increase it over time when the body gets adapted to the drug. There may be some possible side effects, such as restlessness, irritability. To ease these problems, you can divide the dose with most of them taken before the sleeping time. Keep in mind that tricyclic antidepressants would lead to certain cardiac problems, namely heart palpitations and dizziness.
