6Fermented Food
Fermented foods contain a lot of beneficial bacteria that can provide many health benefits, such as better immunity and improved digestion. Unfortunately, they would be associated with an increased risk of anxiety. Scientists have found the reason for this link. During the fermentation process, protein in foods is broken down into many components. A byproduct of this process is histamine. When the level of histamines in the body is too high, it may increase brain inflammation and lead to anxiety attacks. Thus, if you have depression or anxiety, be cautious when eating fermented foods, such as kefir, tempeh, miso, kimchi, sauerkraut, or yogurts. [8]
