9Caffeine in Ceylon Tea
Like other types of tea, Ceylon tea contains caffeine. However, the exact level can vary, depending on the category and preparation method. In general, whole tea leaves provide less caffeine than tea bags. Steeping the drink longer would increase the caffeine content. Caffeine contents in different types of leaves used for brewing Ceylon tea are as follow:
– Ceylon tea made from green tea has the lowest caffeine levels. It typically contains around 35 mg per cup.
– Ceylon tea made from black tea contains more caffeine. It typically contains between 50 and 90 mg per cup.
– Ceylon tea made from white tea contains around 6 mg per cup. [9]
