Cholesterol Level by Age – Differences and Recommendations

7Recommended Cholesterol Levels for Children

The recommended cholesterol levels in children are not the same as those in adults. The total cholesterol amount should be no more than 170 mg/dL to be considered normal. A range between 170 and 199 mg/dL is borderline and a result of more than 200 mg/dL is excessively high. The optimal levels of LDL cholesterol for kids should be no more than 110 mg/dL. In general, those children who do not have a family history, are not overweight, follow a balanced diet, and are physically active are at lower risk of experiencing high cholesterol. [7]
