Caregiving for Parkinson’s Disease – Guide & Checklist

4Communicate Openly

Not all people with Parkinson’s disease are open about their diagnosis. Therefore, you should communicate openly and encourage them to share their condition. Tell them that the condition is not something to feel embarrassed or shameful about. Make them think positively and provide them with useful information. Open communication also shows that you are really concerned about their health and want to help out. On the other hand, you should also be open about any stress or challenges that you have to face during this process. If necessary, seek help from other family members or friends to share the burdens and have more time for yourself. [5]
