8Drawbacks
A major drawback of the candida diet is the lack of human research into effectiveness. As said above, most studies are conducted in cells or animals. Therefore, it can be hard to know whether it is especially effective for the purpose. Another problem with this diet is its strictness. Some meats, starchy veggies, most fruits, gluten, sugar, caffeine, and alcohol are all excluded. Thus, it will need more work to make proper changes to fit the style. This would lead to many issues when you have a tight budget or do not enjoy meal planning and cooking. Luckily, the candida diet has a limited scope. It should only be followed when you have typical symptoms of candida overgrowth or infection. [8]
