– Active secondary progressive multiple sclerosis: In this type, symptoms worsen all the time, but you may still have periods when symptoms only worsen for a short time.
Another use of Avonex is to treat clinically isolated syndrome, which is characterized by one period of multiple sclerosis symptoms that persists at least 1 day. The condition would lead to multiple sclerosis. [2]
