12 Ways To Get A Good Leg Workout at Home

5Step-up

If you want to improve your leg power, strength, and overall balance, then the step-up can be a good exercise. The first step is to stand in front of an elevated surface, such as a bench or a staircase. Consider having a dumbbell in each hand if you prefer a weighted version. Next, step on the bench with the whole left foot and push up through the hell to bring the right foot to meet the left one. For more challenge, you can also lift the right knee at the same time. Lastly, step down with the right foot to return to the initial position. [9]

Clam Shells

Clam shells are a perfect exercise to target your glutes. The key in this movement is to keep your hips stacked on each other to maximize the effect. Firstly, you need to lay down on the left side with stacked hips and head resting on the left bicep. Lift the right knee to open up your thighs. At the same time, keep both heels staying together before lowering the right knee to return to the initial position. Repeat on the right side of the body by lifting the left knee. [10]
