9Neck or Shoulder Stretching
Stretching your shoulder or neck can help strengthen the muscles and alleviate chronic headaches. It can also help provide temporary relief. You can try it as a simple routine. Some stretches to do include:
– Lower the chin slowly to the chest. Do not move the shoulders. Make sure you feel the stretch in your neck’s back. Stay a few seconds before returning to the upright position.
– Twist the head slowly to your right or left side. Stay in this position 15 to 30 seconds before returning and facing forward. Do the same with the other direction.
– Lower the head slowly until the ear is nearly touching the shoulder. Stay in this position 15 to 30 seconds.
Stop immediately if you feel pain or discomfort. [9]
