But you may find it challenging to process fatty foods – at least for a couple of days. About half of the patients who have undergone this procedure always experience troubles digesting fat.

Therefore, it is essential that for a while after surgery, you consume broths, clear liquid, and gelatin. Next, add solid food to your diet gradually. It is advised that you should stay away from high-fat foods, gas-causing foods, fried foods, and foods having strong odors. Also, sticking to eating small meals frequently.

Above all, it is advisable for those who already have their gallbladder removed to stick with a low-fat diet. Consuming the wrong meals may result in bloating, induced pain, and diarrhea. Therefore, eat more foods that are high in fiber and avoid these food items to help avoid gastrointestinal discomfort: Pizza, potato chips, French fries, Butter/Lard, cheese, whole milk, ground beef, sausage, bologna, etc. [3]
