One key technique for getting rid of a cough involves drinking plenty of water. When our throat is dry, it can become dehydrated and cause irritation. As we already learned, that irritation will cause a cough. The simple solution for this cough? Rehydrate. It is important to note, though, that this isn’t going to be a solution for every cough.
Our first step in dealing with any cough should be identifying the cause of the cough. Other techniques for rehydration include taking a hot shower, using a humidifier, or even trying a soothing lozenge. These work to promote hydration in the throat, so it may help.
