6Ringworm
Ringworm is a fungal infection that may lead to hair loss. Especially, when this condition occurs on the tinea capitis, also known as the scalp, it may lead to temporary patches of baldness on your head. Common signs may include:
– A small patch that becomes larger, leading to bald, scaly skin spots
– Red, itchy skin patches in the affected areas
– Brittle hair that would break easily
– Ring-shaped patches
– Oozing blisters on your scalp
If the infection does not disappear on its own, your healthcare provider would prescribe an antibiotic or antifungal medication. [6]
