7Treatment Options
Taking antibiotics can help get rid of the bacteria that causes Whipple’s disease. Patients often need a long-term treatment plant, often lasting one or two years. However, symptoms tend to improve quickly just after a few weeks. A full course of antibiotics is necessary to help them recover completely. It is important to monitor the patients to ensure that drug resistance does not occur. When you relapse, other antibiotics might be suggested. Additional treatments include iron supplements, antimalarial drugs, increased fluid intake, nonsteroidal pain medications, corticosteroids, and a high-calorie diet. [7]
