7Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
The thoracic outlet is the gap between the highest rib and clavicle. It is filled with muscles, nerves, and vessels. Weak muscles would cause the clavicle to slide down, thus putting more stress on vessels and nerves in your thoracic outlet. This leads to collarbone pain even when the part is not injured itself. Some common causes of thoracic outlet syndrome include poor posture, shoulder injury, a congenital defect, obesity, or repeated pressure in physical activities. Apart from pain, symptoms include muscle wasting, numbness, tingling, weakened grip, arm swelling or pain, color changes in fingers or hand, and a lump at the collarbone. [7]
