7Is Shingles Contagious?
If you have shingles, it is possible that the varicella-zoster virus can be passed to anybody who has not been immune to chickenpox. In most cases, it happens through direct contact with the blister of the rash. After getting the virus, however, the affected people will have symptoms of chickenpox instead of shingles. For certain individuals, chickenpox may be dangerous and contagious. Therefore, make sure to avoid physical contact with others until your shingles rash scabs over, particularly newborn babies, pregnant women, the elderly, and those with a compromised immune system.
