Some doctors divide pericarditis into 5 main groups, depending on the kind of fluids that builds up around your heart:
– Purulent: Characterized by white or yellow pus
– Caseous: Affected cells have a cheese-like look due to the accumulation of dead cells
– Serous: Transparent, yellow, or pale fluid
– Fibrinous: Featured by fibrin and leukocytes, a form of white blood cells
– Hemorrhagic: blood-based fluid [7]
