The transmission of monkeypox is through direct or indirect contact with an infected animal, infected person, or contaminated objects.
Animal-to-person contact
People might have monkeypox when they get bites or scratches from infected animals. It is also possible to get infected when people accidentally touch the body fluids such as saliva, urine, feces, or blood.
Person-to-person contact
Person-to-person contact is another transmission route of monkeypox. These contacts include having sex, kissing, cuddling, or touching the body fluids or sores of an infected person. The infection during pregnancy is also likely to lead to congenital monkeypox in babies.
Contaminated objects
Monkeypox can spread through objects containing the monkeypox viruses, like drinking water, food, or infected animal products such as wool, hides, leather, or hair. [3]
