3What Does a Generalized Seizure Feel Like?
Absence Seizure
People with an absence seizure may lose their awareness for several up to 30 seconds. They will not be confused after this period. Nevertheless, this type of seizure happens very often during a day, up to 100 times. It usually doesn’t cause physical injury and can be controlled by using anti-seizure medications. Children are more affected by absence seizures. During an attack, they may:
– Seem to stare blackly into space
– Stop the current activity suddenly
– Have automatisms, such as eye fluttering, chewing, or smacking
When you first notice a seizure or it continues to occur when you take anti-seizure medications, see your doctor immediately. [3]
