One of the causes of vertigo is Ménière disease. It is a kind of disease in which fluid is built-up in the inner ear. Drugs like Prochlorperazine and Betahistine can be used to treat vertigo. Betahistine reduces the pressure of fluid in your inner ear while Prochlorperazine relieves severe nausea and vomiting associated with vertigo. These drugs, however, come with possible side effects: headache, upset stomach, rash for Betahistine; drowsiness, tremors and involuntary body movements for Prochlorperazine. If these drugs successfully treat your vertigo, you should be supplied with another dose in case of a next attack.
