5Additional Symptoms of Transverse Myelitis

Transverse myelitis can be either subacute or acute. Subacute means that the illness progresses over a period of 1 to 4 weeks. Acute means that it progresses unexpectedly over several hours to a few days. In addition to four typical symptoms, people with transverse myelitis can experience additional signs, such as fever, headache, discomfort, muscle spasms, trouble breathing, loss of appetite, anxiety, depression, and sexual dysfunction. Exact symptoms can vary from person to person, depending on the area of the spinal cord that is affected. [5]
