11Recurrent Transverse Myelitis
Some people with transverse myelitis experience recurrences. This is defined as the occurrence of more than one episode. Certain patients might have autoimmune types of optic neuritis and myelitis that fit the features of neuromyelitis optica. Others with recurrent transverse myelitis might experience myelopathies related to rheumatological disorders, including sarcoidosis or Sjogren’s syndrome. In these cases, they should be extensively evaluated for proper treatment options.[11]
