5Perilymphatic Fistula
This condition happens when there is a tear in the fistula. It causes vertigo because pressure changes in the middle air are moved to the inner ear. Head trauma is the most common cause. Perilymphatic fistula can also be triggered by barotrauma, which is more common when you are scuba diving or flying on an airplane. Congenital cases are also reported. In addition to vertigo, other symptoms include ear pressure, tinnitus, and sudden or recurring hearing loss. These problems would become worse when the current altitude is changed. [8]
Ramsay Hunt Syndrome
Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a condition that occurs as a result of an infection in the facial nerve. Herpes zoster virus is the main cause. Some typical symptoms include vertigo, hearing loss, ear pain, facial weakness on one side, as well as blistering rash in the ear canal or along the ear.
