There is a link between Noonan syndrome and learning issues. However, this association is not so strong. In many cases, the current reports about cognitive delays of people with the disorder indicate that small kids who have Noonan syndrome tend to have a higher than average likelihood of developing a learning disability. Even though it is more prevalent for adults and children with the condition to have the average intellectual ability, many people also have above average intellectual capability. [6]
Eye Issues
Another typical symptom of Noonan syndrome is problems with the eyelids and eyes. These might include:
– Cataracts
– Nystagmus: quick movement of the eyeball
– Refractive issues, such as hyperopia or farsightedness, myopia or nearsightedness, or astigmatism
– Issues with eye muscles, such as strabismus or cross-eye
The eyes of people with Noonan syndrome also tend to be slanted downward. In some cases, they look like wrapping around the face’s side. The eyelids can be thick, which creates deep folds in the skin. [7]
