7Antibiotics
Since most cases of stomach ulcers are caused by H. pylori bacteria, antibiotics can be an effective treatment option. They can be prescribed in the short term, often a 2-week course. Antibiotics would kill bacteria and improve symptoms. The effectiveness depends on the antibiotic resistance rate in the affected part. Common antibiotics for treating stomach ulcers include levofloxacin, tetracycline, tinidazole, metronidazole, clarithromycin, and amoxicillin. Possible side effects include loss of appetite, indigestion, bloating, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.[7]
