7Pregnancy
Most ovarian cysts often grow in the early stages of pregnancy. During this period, the corpus luteum generates hormones to support and nourish the uterine lining as well as the growing fetus until the forming of the placenta at around 10 to 12 weeks. However, in some women, this part is filled with fluids and remain on the ovary rather than regressing. This type is also known as a corpus luteum cyst. Sometimes, another form of ovarian cyst occurring before pregnancy might stay on the ovary during this period. Fortunately, most cases are harmless and will go away on their own by the second trimester. [7]
