8Exposure to Toxins
Another possible cause of narcolepsy is the direct exposure to harmful and toxic chemicals in living or working environments. If you live in a region that is heavily contaminated, toxins would penetrate your body and affect the brain areas which regulate your sleep, thus causing many sleep disorders such as insomnia or narcolepsy. The same thing can be true for workers or people who work in toxic and harmful conditions such as factories, mining camps, or oil rigs. In some cases, some substances would even change your genes and pass down to the next generations. [8]
