7Flexural Psoriasis
Flexural psoriasis usually affects the skinfolds, such as around the groin area, in the armpits, or under the breasts. It is typically characterized by smooth, shiny, and red skin areas. The moisture and sweat from skinfolds would lead to the shedding of skin scales. In some cases, doctors may misdiagnose flexural psoriasis as a bacterial or fungal infection. Treatment options for flexural and plaque psoriasis are similar. These include biologics, oral medications, light therapy, or topical steroid creams. To prevent the excessive thinning of the skin, a doctor would prescribe a steroid cream with lower potency. You can also apply or take medications to reduce the growth of bacteria or yeast.
