4How to Take Imatinib Mesylate

In general, it is advisable to take imatinib mesylate based on the instructions of your doctor. For 600-mg dosages or less, you should take the medication one time per day. It can be taken at any time during the day. For 800-mg dosages, you should take it in two times: 400 milligrams in the morning and 400 milligrams in the evening. It is better to take imatinib mesylate with a large glass of water and food during a meal to avoid an upset stomach. Do not chew, split, or crush the drug. This may do harm to the skin or other parts of the body that are in contact with the medication. If you find it difficult to swallow the tablet, dissolve it in juice or water and then drink the mixture. [7]
