3Stages of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis does not have any formal stages. However, the progression of this condition may have specific periods. After the initial diagnosis, oxygen assistance would be unnecessary. However, you may have some breathing issues when doing physical activities. When the condition progresses, you may need more oxygen during daily tasks, even when you are at rest or sleeping. A high-flow oxygen machine would be used in later stages to provide your body with enough oxygen to function properly. Breathing can be harder when you have a flare. As lung damage is not reversible, you might not regain any lung function. Fortunately, you can take preventive measures to slow the condition’s progression. [4]
