HSV-2 is mostly caused by direct sexual contact with those people who already have the infection. It is estimated that up to 20% of sexually active adults in the country are diagnosed with this condition. When you contact with the herpes sores, skin, or genital surface, the virus will directly move to your body and infect. Even when the skin around the anal or genital areas looks normal, HSV-2 could also be transmitted. In some cases, HSV-2 would be contracted by a baby from its mother during birth. [7]
