6Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2 or HSV-2
Overview of HSV-2
HSV-2 is commonly known as the main trigger of genital herpes. Unlike HSV-1, this form is nearly exclusively sexually transmitted, meaning that it could be contracted only via sexual activities. Infections caused by HSV-2 is not curable and would last for the entire lifetime. Current treatment options could only help alleviate the frequency and severity of the symptoms. It is estimated that around 15% of people in the United States and 400 million people around the world suffer from this condition. [6]
